Q1: How does the universal insert work when the machine is 7inches wide?
A: The universal insert is 17 inches wide from left to right. The insert is 7 1/4 inches deep from front to back. If your sewing machine is 7 inches wide versus deep then you would place your sewing machine closest to the left hand side to create a flush surface where you sew. The gap would be on the right hand side where the cords are located. If your sewing machine is 7 inches deep referring to front and back then you will have a 1/4 of an inch gap. This should not interfere with your sewing.
